Colorado Springs, CO - With all five Rocky Mountain Division teams scheduled for the weekend the league will still be watching the Thunder v. Fire game on Friday night. This is the biggest game of the season so far as the top two teams in the division battle for first place. The defending Thunder, after dropping a game in their first series of the year, have cleaned up their game and look good while the Lakewood Fire have done the same after a tough loss early.
The Thunder also are advertising their third event to help a group that has fallen on some tough times. With the help of Thunder player, Sean Pearson and the Wescott Fire Department, the Thunder are donating $5 of every admission to Jeff Edwards and the Edwards family. Jeff Edwards has been a staple at the Wescott station for over 12 years and has been the department chief for three, but he has done so much more. Mr. Edwards has represented our military and country for three different tours, two in Baghdad and one in Kuwait. After returning home from his last stint in Baghdad Jeff was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given only months to live. "After Sean (Pearson) brought this tragedy to my attention, it was something I personally wanted to take part in helping. My father and both grandfathers served in the military and it has always meant so much to me to be a part of this country. So we decided to take off with this cause and see what we could do to help. It has come together nicely and we are very excited for the event," said Thunder captain CJ Yoder.
The night's events will start at 7pm with the minor league games (Black Forest v West Parker) and thanks to a collection of enthusiastic Colorado Springs Police officers and Firefighters the second annual Police / Firefighter Olympics will be showcased. All the night's events will be sponsored by the Wescott Fire Department and while they enjoy the games from the Buffalo Wild Wings Suite, I'm sure they will be rooting on the Firefighters to an Olympic Gold!
The pro games will begin at 8:15pm and able to be watched live on Justin TV with the Thunder Gameday starting at 6:30pm and you can now get Thunder home game tickets on the web by clicking here.
