The Thunder haven\\\'t had much to celebrate lately but hope to change that in their weekend series against the Fire.
Colorado Springs, CO - After another lackluster weekend, the Colorado Springs Thunder will return home to take on the Lakewood Fire in a battle for first place. With two sweeps of the division leading Thunder the Fire could take over first place and have home floor throughout the Western Conference playoffs. “We flat out need to play better. There is not a part of our team right now that is holding up its end of the bargain and if we do not right this ship quickly, we could be done even quicker,” said captain, CJ Yoder.
The Thunder are coming off a weekend split with the Fort Collins Catz and came away with less points than the opposing team for the first time all season, while the Fire are coming off a sweep of those same Catz and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The Fire have been much stronger at home, with a 6-4 record in the friendly confines of RMR in Lakewood, CO and have struggled away, especially lately losing 6 of their last 8. But with the Thunder reeling the visitors are looking to pull four points from this weekend and give them a chance at first place during the final week of the regular season.
This Friday night the Thunder will also be thanking the best fans in PIHA during their annual Fan Appreciation Night with some great giveaways and prizes. By the end of the night, two lucky Thunder fans will leave with a trip to the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas! The Thunder merchandise department has been selling one of a kind jerseys during the last couple home games with each jersey coming with a chance to win the trip for two. Winners will be announced during halftime of the second game. Pro games begin at 8:15 with Black Forest taking on Littleton at 7:00 and Front Range playing host to Lakewood at 10:15. All games can be watched live on the web at Justin.tv. Purchase your tickets online now.
